The United Stated States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Alaska –Fairbanks Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Battalion are hosting an information briefing for interested high school students and their parents on Sunday, 26 August starting at 3 PM in the Multipurpose Room at Monroe Catholic High School, located at 615 Monroe St in Fairbanks. This briefing will cover the opportunities available to qualified candidates to further their education and become an Army Officer. Topics include qualification standards, the admissions and scholarship processes, and timelines. Also discussed will be the differences between each officer producing source and what a typical Cadet would experience in each program. Students who have open admissions files will have the opportunity to conduct an interview with the each representative. This is the only time this joint briefing will be conducted in the Fairbanks area. Potential candidates should meet the following criteria: US citizen; unmarried; neither pregnant or with a legal obligation to care for a child; demonstrated strong leadership potential; physically fit; and strong academic performance.
