TESTING INFORMATION
|
ACT
|
This is a test that takes roughly 3 hr 35 min if including Writing, or 2 hr 55 min without. There are study guides and many resources to help you prepare yourself.
Although offered by different company, you can benefit from practicing with SAT preparation materials. There are many websites you can find online to help you with testing skills and strategies, many of them are free. Look them up and take advantage of these great resources; there are scheduled test prep workshops on base, as well. |
ASVAB
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a multiple choice test used by the US Military to determine qualification for enlistment in the US Armed Forces. Starting from 2017, we are offering the ASVAB online. You can get both your test result & interpretation on the same day!
This test is meant for military recruitment, so most test takers are juniors and seniors. There are, however, sophomores who's taken this test for career exploration; the interpretation after the test tells you a lot about yourself that you may not even know. It is a free test and I encourage everyone to do this at least once during their high school career, you will gain much from it even if you're not planning on joining the military.

PSAT/PreACT
Want to practice taking SAT or ACT? Of course! Both companies provide their preliminary, or "practice" test for what they offer.
As of now we have PSAT set up and ready to go twice a year, once in October for Juniors, and once in March for any one from grades 8-10. Do consider taking the PSAT/PreACT to increase test-stamina. It takes practice to be able to sit and test for 3 and half hours in one shot. Many students who took it for the first time report that towards the end of the test, "you're so fried that you can't even understand what you're reading".
PreACT is not set up yet, but I'm working on it. There's not much information I can share right now, but as soon as I get it ready to go, I'll let you guys know.
